The Method Design team was tasked with creating comic-styled main titles, transitions, and end titles for Red 2. As a follow up to the highly successful Red, the sequel reunites Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich who return for more aged assassin shoot-em-up action and witty banter.
Working with Director Dean Parisot and Comic Artist Cully Hamner the creative team developed a stylized sequence utilizing some original artwork while advancing the 3D techniques they previously employed on Captain America: The First Avenger.
The goal was to create a title sequence that established a graphic/comic feel which segue into the action-packed comedy. In addition to the titles, Dean wanted a follow-up on the geographic post-cards from the first film, with newer, more dynamic and stylized animation. These transitions, while providing key graphic connections between acts and locations, also needed to preserve the pacing of the film.
